Rachel has always been part of the Saint Ambrose Catholic community.  She was a founding member and served as the Chairperson for the Language Arts Curriculum Committee at the school’s inception. Before then, she earned her BS in Elementary Education from the University of Minnesota with an emphasis in Exceptional Learners and in Math. She pursued additional graduate coursework in teaching Literature. She taught third grade at another Archdiocesan school. Throughout the years at Saint Ambrose, she has led enrichment groups in reading, writing, math and art. She has been a long-time substitute teacher.

She believes language connects and is excited to share Literature and English in order to better learn, grow, and unite. She is excited to partner with middle school students as they continue to grow into who God is calling them to be. She enjoys the energy and awkwardness of the middle school years and looks forward to supporting students as they become more independent. She believes in cultivating a culture of success and support by fostering a growth mindset in her classroom.

Rachel believes that by encouraging a firm foundation in the written form, students learn to effectively and clearly share their ideas. Critically reading a wide variety of texts expands understanding and relationships. With many varied experiences reading, writing, speaking, and listening, students will better understand and connect with those they encounter.

She feels privileged to teach and learn in a supportive Catholic environment where faith and virtue are lived and celebrated day to day.

In her spare time she loves to travel, participate in book clubs, learn through bible studies and watch hockey.
