K-2 Spanish Teacher

651-768-3000 ext 3084

My name is Megan Vasatka, but my students know me as “Profe”.  I am joining the St. Ambrose school community on Mondays and Thursdays as the new K-2 Spanish Teacher.

I spend my days off at my home in Minneapolis with my youngest child.  My two oldest children attend Minneapolis Public Schools and my third will be starting his first year of Pre-K.  My husband works downtown and we spend much of our free time with family and friends.  We especially enjoy exploring parks, libraries, and museums and skiing in the winter.I have been teaching Spanish to elementary students for over a decade.  I previously taught at Osceola Elementary in Osceola, Wisconsin and at Bancroft and Whittier Elementary Schools in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

I received my Bachelor of Arts from St. Catherine University where I majored in Spanish, Education and Critical Studies of Race and Ethnicity.  I completed my Masters in Spanish at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

I have been fortunate to use my language skills abroad both as a student and a tourist in Spain, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Peru, and Costa Rica.

I am excited to be at St. Ambrose where I will be able to enhance my cultural lessons with the rich Catholic roots that have shaped many of the holidays and traditions of Spanish-speaking countries and communities around the world.
